COMMUNITY HEROES TO CELEBRATE THE POWER OF A WISH AT SECOND ANNUAL WISH BALL
The black-tie event, hosted by Make-A-Wish will take place on Friday, May 2 at the Post Oak Hotel
WHAT: Make-A-Wish® Texas Gulf Coast and Louisiana is thrilled to host the second annual Wish Ball this coming Friday, May 2 at The Post Oak Hotel at Uptown Houston. This highly anticipated black-tie event will welcome more than 650 guests to celebrate the magic of wish heroes in our community with action-packed surprises along the way.
The event, themed “The Hero Within,” is chaired by Beth and Dan Bellow, who have been supporters and champions for Make-A-Wish’s mission for more than two decades. Dan, President of Jones Lang LaSalle, Houston, has served as a board member and advisor for the local chapter for several years. Mandy S. Williams will also be recognized for her support and wish granting generosity. Williams has been a long-time leader for the chapter, serving as both board member and advisor for more than three decades. In addition to serving on multiple committees, she has helped grant wishes and raised more than $1 million.
Additionally, the Wish Ball will feature Enterprise Mobility, the gala’s first corporate honoree for their commitment to the mission of Make-A-Wish. Enterprise Mobility has been a corporate partner since 2021, contributing nearly $800,000 through employee giving and Enterprise Mobility Foundation grants, as well as helping to grant countless wishes.
Melissa Wilson of Fox 26, a Make-A-Wish volunteer and wish mom, will lead the evening as emcee.
In 2024, the chapter’s inaugural Wish Ball raised a remarkable $1.7 million for its mission to grant life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses. Last year, Make-A-Wish granted 602 wishes across its Texas Gulf Coast and Louisiana territory. This year the chapter aims even higher with a goal of granting a record-breaking 650 wishes.
More than 1,100 local children are currently waiting for their wishes to be granted, and the Foundation seeks support from the community to ensure that each Make-A-Wish child experiences the magic and healing power of a wish. Their resilience and courage remind us of the true meaning of heroism.
