(Fort Wayne, IN) August 24th, 2021 — Make-A-Wish® Ohio, Kentucky & Indiana (Make-A-Wish OKI) is pleased to announce that award-winning journalist Rick Farrant, the current Director of Communications for the workforce development organization Northeast Indiana Works, has been elected Chair of the Northeast Indiana Make-A-Wish Council. As Chair, he will also represent northeast Indiana on the Make-A-Wish Indiana Advisory Board.
“We’re excited to welcome Rick as Chair of the Northeast Indiana Make-A-Wish Council, and as a member of the advisory board, and are thrilled about the expertise he brings,” said Make-A-Wish OKI President & CEO Stephanie McCormick. “Through the partnerships he’s developed in the Fort Wayne area and his strong media and communications background, we’ll be able to increase our impact in the community and make more life-changing wishes come true for children with critical illnesses.”

“One of our mandates in this life, it seems to me, is to uplift the lives of others,” Rick said. “Make-A-Wish, which brings hope to young people facing extraordinarily difficult challenges, certainly offers that opportunity, and I am looking forward to helping the regional council become an unstoppable engine of goodwill.”

Rick is the former Director of Marketing at United Way of Allen County. As a writer and/or editor, he’s worked for Time magazine, the Pulitzer Prize-winning Denver Post, Fort Wayne Journal Gazette and Greater Fort Wayne Business Weekly.
