Anthony enjoyed meeting his favorite baseball player, Mike Trout.
Anaheim, CA - Anthony was excited to be back at school with his teammates and friends after completing his last treatment for Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. While in treatment, Anthony kept focusing on his goal to get back on the baseball field. He could not wait to make his wish! Anthony’s most heartfelt wish was to meet his favorite player from his favorite baseball team, Mike Trout!
On Anthony’s wish day, the sun was shining, the players were dressed in Angel red and as Anthony entered, they were about to take the field for batting practice. Anthony and his family were escorted right onto the field, next to the Angel’s dugout. His wish to meet center fielder, Mike Trout, was about to come true! Anthony was dressed in his Trout jersey and was beyond excited about meeting his favorite player. After all, Anthony hopes to be a professional player too some day!
Mike was warm, attentive and generous. He signed Anthony’s jersey, baseball and even gave him his practice bat to keep, after he signed it of course! They talked baseball and Mike encouraged him to keep practicing and keep on dreaming. After meeting Mike, Anthony and his family sat in the Angel’s dugout, took a tour of the stadium and broadcast booth, and then were escorted to their amazing seats on the third baseline.
The Angels won their game that night, but the real winner in that stadium was Anthony. He fought the battle of cancer, and won. His wish came true, and he has hope for an amazing future. The night ended with a celebration of fireworks in the stadium and smiles all around.
