Neeno is a cool kid with a big personality. He loves birthday celebrations, his family, and his cherished stuff toy monkey named Cappuccino.
At his sixth birthday party, Neeno told his mom that his leg was hurting. A few days later, doctors diagnosed him with cancer. While undergoing intensive treatment, complications caused a stroke and revealed a fatal fungal infection in Neeno's brain. Due to Neeno's advancing condition, his wish became urgent. With his seventh birthday just days away, his mom knew she wanted to throw him the best, last birthday party they could.
The Make-A-Wish North Texas team sprang into action and in 24 hours pulled together an epic birthday party for Neeno — transforming a hospital room into a festive party venue filled with Neeno's doctors, nurses, family, and those who loved him most.
Extremely weak, Neeno entered his birthday party, grinned with excitement, and raised his hands to the sky. His parents reported that something in Neeno changed in that moment — and a few days later, to the astonishment of his care team, the fungal infection disappeared.
Defying the odds, Neeno is in remission from leukemia and making exceptional physical progress. His journey continues to inspire others with the unwavering belief that even in the darkest of times, miracles can happen.
