Kaileyann's Outdoor Adventure Wish
Kaileyann is a sweet and energetic girl. She loves to listen to music, play patty-cake, and meet new people. When Kaileyann was born, she was diagnosed with a chromosome disorder, and doctors were unsure of how her illness would present itself as she got older. She was later diagnosed with congenital heart disease. Treatment and daily life are challenging for Kaileyann and her family, yet they have a positive outlook in everything.
“It is a daily reminder of how fragile life can be. We are so grateful and thankful that she is still with us and learning every step of the way,” Kaileyann’s mom, Desiree, said.
At five years old, Kaileyann was referred to Make-A-Wish by a social worker who worked closely with her during her treatments and therapy. The journey to her wish was not easy due to medical complications, but the hope and anticipation of the wish helped Kaileyann stay strong.
Kaileyann and her mom worked together to curate a perfect wish that would fit her interests and bring joy to the entire family. They tossed around the idea of a camping trip until her mom found something even better: a canopy attachment for their Jeep!
“I saw a jeep truck built with campers attached and thought that may be the best thing. The canopy would be there forever, and we can take her on as many trips as possible! It allows us to stop and open the camper anytime she needs a break from her car seat, which makes traveling a lot easier and it is safer,” Desiree said.
Kaileyann’s wish is not only a fun and exciting way for her to travel and experience new places, but it also allows for a much smoother travel process for the family. They can now easily go on road trips, camping trips and more while accommodating Kaileyann’s needs.
“She was super happy to explore the camper, and her brother and sister think it’s amazing. It represents a possibility for her medical and physical limitations to not stop us from traveling and making memories about seeing beautiful places and experiencing nature,” Desiree said.
