Ever's Wish for a Fur-ever Friend
Ever, 8, is kind, active and outgoing. He likes playing hide and seek, playing games on the Wii and swinging on the swing set. Ever has had a rough battle with leukemia over the last few years, and he shows so much courage and strength through every appointment.
Ever was referred to Make-A-Wish by his social worker, Serena. She wanted to see Ever find hope and joy in the midst of his illness. When Ever found out his wish was going to be granted, he couldn’t believe it! After going over some wish ideas with his wish-granting volunteers, he made a decision. Ever wished for a goldendoodle puppy! It would be his first dog ever, and he was so excited.
“We’ve learned that goldendoodles are calm helping dogs that are easy to have in the house. He would like to have help training the dog. He has loved bonding with the dogs our family friends have, and has noticed that they help him feel calm. He’s excited to learn how to care for a pet. Because he experiences medical and social anxiety, he knows he would feel better sometimes with a buddy like this,” his mother shared.
Ever’s wish day arrived, and it was time for him to pick up his new best friend! When he saw his new puppy for the first time, he couldn’t hold back the tears. The pair bonded immediately, and Ever was so excited to take the new puppy home. Make-A-Wish supplied Ever and his family with lots of supplies and a year’s worth of puppy care at a local vet clinic. It was such a special day, and the entire family was in love with this new puppy!
Ever has done an incredible job learning how to care for a puppy, and she brings him comfort when he feels afraid or anxious before a doctor’s appointment or new treatment session. This wish brought true hope and joy to Ever, and it’s definitely a gift that keeps on giving.
