Meet Emi! Emi is a super sweet eight-year-old girl that loves sharks, music and the Dallas Cowboys. Emi grew up with a gastrointestinal disorder that requires extensive hospital stays. She was able to get through the rough times and took comfort in watching Shark Week episodes and learning about sea life.

Emi’s mother learned about the Make-A-Wish mission during one of their hospital stays and decided to refer her for a wish. She knew that a wish would bring Emi so much joy as she continued to fight her illness. When Emi found out her wish was going to be granted, she was so happy, and she was quick to suggest a visit to an aquarium so she could see all of her favorite sea creatures. After meeting with the Make-A-Wish team and talking through her ideas, Emi wished to go to the Texas State Aquarium.

While the Make-A-Wish team got to work planning Emi’s special day, Emi was bursting with excitement. She could not wait for the day her wish would come true.

Soon enough, Emi’s wish trip arrived, and she and her family made the drive to the Texas State Aquarium. As soon as she walked through the doors, her eyes lit up with pure joy and wonder. She saw her favorite sea creatures like jellyfish, rainbow fish, stingrays and dolphins! Emi was eager to share the facts she knew about the sea creatures and learn even more about them from the aquarium staff. It was a wonderful day, and the family had such a great time exploring the aquarium together. They spent the rest of the trip exploring San Marcos, eating delicious meals and making memories.

Even after wishes are granted, kids like Emi will remember their wish experiences for a lifetime. Wishes can give kids hope to continue treatment and bring them light in dark times.
