Make-A-Wish® Massachusetts and Rhode Island is thrilled to be the featured charity partner for the 2023 Providence Marathon and Half-Marathon on May 7, 2023. We have a team of 19 runners participating in support our organization’s mission to grant life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses.

Donate to Team Make-A-Wish

The race starts in Downtown Providence before heading south toward the East Bay and Barrington, Rhode Island. Runners will head onto a tree-lined bike path that offers shade and scenic views of the Providence River. They will loop back around in Barrington, taking some of the same route back while running toward the shadow of the city’s skyline. Once they reach the finish back downtown by the Rhode Island State House, the after-party begins! The marathon course is USATF-certified and is an official Boston Marathon qualifier. Special Make-A-Wish elements:

• Before the race, 2021 wish recipient Kaylee Chambers, 17, of Woonsocket, RI, will perform the National Anthem.
• Wish recipient Miles Oliver, 8, of Newton, MA, will be the race’s “Kid Captain,” and his mother Colleen Brady will run the half marathon, in celebration of Miles’ last month of his two-year chemotherapy treatment for acute lymphoblastic leukemia.
• Team Make-A-Wish member Joe Belanger will be the official last runner to start the marathon, with both The Integlia Family Foundation and Hill View Parnters donating $1 each for every runner Joe passes on the 26.2-mile course.
• Make-A-Wish will have a team tent near the start/finish line and will co-host the post-race party with Ventures Endurance in collaboration with Make-A-Wish in-kind partners Good Dogg Hard Seltzer, Fiddlehead Brewing, and Narragansett Brewing.

Spectator Information:

Start times: Marathon -7:30 AM (Participants should arrive no later than 7:00 a.m.); Half Marathon - 8:00 AM (Participants should arrive no later than 7:30 a.m.)

Parking for spectators at the finish line can be found at the Providence Place Mall or the Convention Center.

A post-race party for all runners will be hosted by Make-A-Wish Massachusetts and Rhode Island and Ventures Endurance in collaboration with Make-A-Wish in-kind partners Good Dogg Hard Seltzer, Fiddlehead Brewing, and Narragansett Brewing.
