Meet Sofia! Sofia is an outgoing and energetic 10-year-old girl who loves arts and crafts, the Disney Descendants trilogy, and the Dallas Mavericks and Dallas Cowboys. When she was very sick and needed a liver transplant, she was able to get through it and recover with the support of her family and her favorite shows and movies.

Sofia’s father Bikrum decided to refer her for a wish because he knew that it would give her something to look forward to. After learning she was going to have her wish granted, Sofia was so excited about this opportunity. Both Sofia and her brother Samir love Disney, so it was the first thing that came to mind. She met with two wish granters from the Make-A-Wish team, and they discovered that Sofia wished to go to Disney World.

While the Make-A-Wish team worked to put everything in place for Sofia’s wish to happen, her excitement grew, and she looked forward to the day her wish would come true.

May began, and it was time for Sofia’s wish to come true! She and her family visited Walt Disney World in Florida, and she had the biggest smile on her face from the moment they arrived. Sofia and her family visited Magic Kingdom and Epcot, and they stayed in Disney’s Give Kids the World Village, which is a nonprofit resort that provides critically ill children and their families with wish vacations at no cost. Sofia and her family enjoyed the parks and made so many special memories together that will last a lifetime. They had a wonderful trip! After they returned home from Disney World, Sofia’s father said,

“We just wanted to say thank you so much to everyone who made this trip possible. Sofia was so excited and had so much fun. Our family felt the magic in our hearts and will always be grateful we were given this opportunity. Thank you to the entire Make-A-Wish Team!”

After a child’s wish has been granted, the experience helps change their outlook on life and instills hope for the future, as well as providing memories that will last a lifetime. This trip to Disney World made a positive impact on Sofia’s life. Wishes can give kids hope to continue with their treatments, bring them a source of excitement, and give them memories to hold on to for the rest of their lives.
