Volunteer Spotlight: Heidi S.
What ways are you involved as a volunteer?
I am a wish granter.
How did you first find Make-A-Wish?
My grade schoolteacher, Stacy, is involved with Make-A-Wish and I saw the impact she was making in so many lives with a smile always on her face.
How long have you been volunteering with Make-A-Wish Minnesota?
I have been a wish granter for two and a half years.
What has been the most rewarding aspect of volunteering with Make-A-Wish?
The best rewards have been the hugs and appreciation from the wish families. We get to bring the joy to someone’s stressful life, and it is an amazing experience.
What advice would you give to new volunteers?
Keep trying. You are making a difference and there are so many families out there that need your love and support. You may not connect as easily with certain families and that is okay. Keep putting yourself out there!
What story would you share to inspire others to become a volunteer with Make-A-Wish?
The world needs more love right now. You can be that for a family. Let that light shine!
