Spring Letter from Kari Davis, President & CEO
In November 2021, I was delighted to join the Make-A-Wish Minnesota team as the third CEO & President in our chapter’s history. I look forward to building on the legacy of the hard-working volunteers that established our chapter 40 years ago and recognize the community support that allowed our chapter to grow into a fully staffed organization with the ability to grant wishes across our entire state.
This year, the Make-A-Wish team is working towards a goal of granting 212 wishes by the end of August. As of today, we have completed 87 wishes, and are preparing for our “busy season.” As weather warms and Minnesotans head outside, we grant the largest bulk of our wishes. Wishes to have a camper, to go fishing and to have playsets keep us busy in the summer months. It’s an exciting time to be learning the behind-the-scenes of our work, and I look forward to reporting on our impact this fall.
While we are proud of our goal of granting 212 wishes this year, we have nearly 500 additional children currently waiting for their wish. We have the creativity among our staff and the commitment from our volunteers to make all of these wishes come true and more. We are only limited by our resources.
Throughout the coming months, I hope to learn from all of you as we continue to welcome new volunteers, donations of supplies and special skills, and financial support that mirror the needs of the myriad of wishes across our state.
Thank you for your warm welcome and I look forward to sharing many stories of the magic of a wish in the months and years to come!
Sincerely,
Kari Davis
