Scott said, “I was 17 going into my senior year of high school. I was a big tough kid playing football, wrestling and weightlifting. I knew I had something wrong. I had a whole bunch of big swelling pain in my neck. Finally, I had a lymph node removed and sent down to the Mayo Clinic and it came back with a positive test result for Hodgkin's lymphoma.” 

Throughout Scott’s six months of treatment, his mom says he never complained, instead continuing to remain grateful. Scott explained how he got through this tough time saying, “my definition of strength is peace. You can be strong in the mind and strong in the body but it's nothing without being at peace with yourself.”

Scott wished to leave a lasting legacy and chose to give back with his wish. His wish was to give back to the community that helped give him strength when he was going through treatment. He wished to give new weightlifting equipment to his high school.
