7-year-old Jackson loves all things spooky. His favorite thing to do during treatment was to go to the Spirit Halloween store. Looking at all of the animatronics and decorations distracted him from his ongoing treatments and the real-life scary situations he was facing.
This year is the first year that his family has been home for Halloween instead of in the hospital. Jackson couldn’t stop talking about Halloween and how he wanted to decorate their house. His birthday was also coming up so Make-A-Wish decided to surprise him by making his house super scary for Halloween and his birthday.
The community rallied around Jackson’s wish with donations from Lowe’s, The Horror Dome, and Morris Costumes to name a few. Lowe’s employees volunteered to transform the family’s home into a haunted house – both inside and out. Carowinds even donated tickets for Jackson’s family to attend their Scarowinds Halloween event.
When Jackson arrived at his house after school, he couldn’t contain his excitement. The house décor looked spook-tacular and was full of animatronics that Jackson loved. He couldn’t wait to see everything and show off his completed house to all his family and the volunteers. Jackson’s favorite decoration was the clown inflatable in his front yard, but he also loved his graveyard.
