Steve donates every year to honor his daughter’s memory

For the past 20 years, Steve Freemole has donated annually to Make-A-Wish Arizona in memory of his daughter, Heather.

And while his gift feels like a great way to honor her memory, it’s the organization’s growth that keeps him motivated to help.

“I raised three daughters so I like to support organizations that help children in need, and I think it’s amazing that Make-A-Wish has chapters around the world now,” he said.

Even with Heather gone, I still think about her every day and want to do what I can to help other kids who are facing what she did.

Steve’s annual donations have collectively helped to grant more than five wishes for kids in Arizona. He especially loves to hear stories about wish kids who choose to be military and first responders.

“A wish allows a kid to experience something they never would be able to do and gives them hope,” he said. “It feels good to be a very small part of that.”

In addition to occasionally dropping off items for the Wish House toy closet, Steve has continued to give through the pandemic.

“Most organizations have seen some struggle or drop off from their donations,” he said. “During times like these, I always try to find a way to keep the support going because every dollar makes a difference.”
