Jamarri's Shopping Spree Wish

Jamarri's VIP Shopping Spree

An active kid, Jamarri loves basketball and all sports. His natural charm radiates with every smile, especially when he’s talking gaming and basketball with his dad or watching his little sisters kid around. In 2019 his world flipped upside down when he was diagnosed with a brain tumor, and that brilliant smile was dimmed while he went through treatment.

Thankfully, Jamarri and his family were connected to Make-A-Wish through Lurie Children’s Hospital. With a terrific team of Make-A-Wish volunteers, Jamarri began to dream about an experience that would lift his heart.

As a result of the restrictions of this past year combined with the limitations brought on by his illness, Jamarri has relied on keeping connected to others through video games. He really enjoys spending time with is his friends, cousins and uncles through gaming.

He shared with his wish granters that he would like to have a shopping spree for some favorite things, including everything he might need to have a great gaming setup.

His wish day turned out to be everything he hoped it would be, with a party bus ferrying him and his family to all of his favorite stores. The Make-A-Wish team had arranged for personalized experiences at most of the stops. Jamarri felt like a real VIP.

He flashed his superstar smile as he learned that the team at GameStop had secured a hard-to-find PS5 gaming system just for him. He was also surprised with games, accessories and more.
With a few more store visits and a special lunch, the day turned out to be an incredible boost to Jamarri’s spirits.

“I was so excited for him,” his mom Jasmine shared. “He just kept smiling and everyone was so happy.”

Jasmine thought it was wonderful that Jamarri got to do something he never had done before and was moved to tears to see how much he was enjoying the experience. According to her, he’s told everyone he knows about his wish and how he got everything he wanted.
