Host an Event
You have the power to make wishes come true! What it takes is organizing an external event for Make-A-Wish® New Mexico.
Your first step will be to decide on a great fundraising idea, for example, hosting a golf tournament or organizing an office jeans day, silent auction or happy hour. There’s really no limit to the possibilities. Then encourage your friends, family and coworkers to support your effort and possibly serve on your committee. If you raise $5,000 or more, you can adopt a specific child’s wish.
Before you start planning your event, please contact Alex Rich, Director of Development at [email protected] or 505-888-9474 to complete the Special Event and Licensing Agreement (This agreement must be signed by a Make-A-Wish New Mexico staff member before you start publicizing your event.)
Frequently Asked Questions about Fundraising:
Q. Who can host an event to benefit Make-A-Wish New Mexico?
A. Anyone! Any individual or group (employees of a corporation, school/university organization, religious group, etc.) can host an event as long as it is approved by the chapter.
Q. How do I get approval to host an event?
A. Once you have decided on the type of event you would like to host and when you would like to host it, the first step toward getting approval from Make-A-Wish New Mexico is to complete, sign and return the Special Event Form and Licensing Agreement. We ask that you allow one week for the office to approve your event.
Q. What kinds of events do people hold?
A. Individuals and groups hold all sorts of events from golf outings to bowl-a-thons, wine tastings, sports tournaments, motorcycle runs and more! Other ideas...we can't wait to hear them!
Q. Is there a minimum donation required to host a fundraiser?
A. There is no minimum amount required to host a fundraiser, but the amount of logistical support you can expect to receive from Make-A-Wish New Mexico, as well as the use of our trademarks and logo in your publicity and advertising materials will depend on the proceeds you anticipate to make.
