Looking for an internship that makes a real impact?
At Make-A-Wish Middle Tennessee, interns don’t just gain experience — they help bring life-changing joy to children with critical illnesses. It’s a chance to grow professionally while contributing to something truly meaningful. Not only are we able to offer school credit and volunteer hour credit, but interns gain insight into the workings of Make-A-Wish Middle Tennessee. This experience will have a lasting impact on their career path going forward, as the experience gained at Make-A-Wish will translate well across numerous career fields. Internships are designed for current undergraduate (rising sophomores to seniors) and graduate students during the Fall and Spring of each year.
As a Cross Departmental intern, you will:
- Learn how a nonprofit operates day-to-day
- Build career-ready skills through three rotations: operations, programs, and development
- Support wish-granting efforts that directly impact local families
- Work alongside a passionate, mission-driven team
Schedule & Flexibility
Our office follows an in-person schedule:
Monday–Thursday: 8:30 a.m.–5:30 p.m.
Friday: 9 a.m.–12 p.m.
Intern hours are flexible within those times and can be tailored to fit your academic schedule. All hired interns must successfully complete a background check
Internship Application Deadlines

FALL: Late August – Early December (Applications accepted January – June)
SPRING: Early January – Late April (Applications accepted August - November)

Make-A-Wish Middle Tennessee finances endeavors through corporate sponsorships, special events, foundation grants and individual contributions. However, we do not solicit funds by telephone and receive no federal or state funding. As a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization, all contributions are deductible to the extent permitted by law. Our financial statements are audited locally by CliftonLarsonAllen LLP.
At Make-A-Wish, we take our responsibility for the monies donated to our cause very seriously and are pleased to confirm that according to the fiscal year 2019 audit results, Make-A-Wish Foundation of Middle Tennessee spent 77% of every dollar on wish granting and related program expenses. Only 14% of every dollar was spent on management and general costs and 9% was allocated to fundraising.
