Internships

Thank you for your interest in our internship program. Make-A-Wish is actively monitoring the rapidly evolving situation surrounding COVID-19. The health and safety of our wish families, staff, and volunteers remains our highest priority. Therefore, Make-A-Wish Greater Los Angeles has made the difficult decision to cancel our 2021 Spring and Summer internship program. At this time, we are unable to offer remote internship opportunities.

We appreciate your understanding. If you are still interested in interning for our chapter in the future, we encourage you to re-apply for the 2022 Spring term. If you have any questions, please send an email to [email protected]

Our internship program offers interns a substantive learning experience that affords them the opportunity to contribute to our work, and to provide the knowledge, skills, and tools they may need to continue in the nonprofit field.

About the Program

Interns at Make-A-Wish® Greater Los Angeles give of their time and talents to help bring hope, strength, and joy to children with critical illnesses. Our interns receive valuable training, knowledge, and hands-on experience working in a nonprofit environment.

All of our internships are unpaid. However, academic credit can be provided for students applying for our internship program (depending on specific criteria/requirements of the student’s educational institution). Our project-based internships provide opportunities to work with highly qualified professionals and strengthen new skills. All hired interns must successfully complete a background check prior to beginning their internship.

Skills

Applicants should be reliable, flexible, and detail oriented as well as self-motivated. They should also possess strong written and communication skills as well as project management skills.

We will consider your educational goals and experience as part of our interview process. We consider all majors. Our internships may interest students studying in the following fields:

  • Communications
  • Sociology
  • Public Relations

  • Journalism
  • Business Administration
