Available Positions

Job Title: Director of Individual Giving
Reports To: Senior Director of Philanthropy
Classification:  Full Time/Exempt 

The Role: 
The Director of Individual Giving is responsible for growing major gifts revenue generated from individual donors and affinity groups by putting in place a qualifying process for donors. The Director of Individual Giving will achieve major gift goals by identifying, qualifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding individuals for gifts of $10.000 and above. The Director of Individual Giving role will manage giving programs for the chapter, including but not limited to donor societies; appeals; and stewardship.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and manage individual strategies for a portfolio of 250+ donors.
  • Conduct a minimum of 12 face-to-face donor meetings each month.
  • Implement strategies for cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding donors, focusing on major gifts of $10,000 and above.
  • Maintain and enhance the donor cultivation and stewardship process.
  • Ensure timely and accurate data entry in Salesforce to support donor engagement and team responses.
  • Achieve major gift fundraising goals by identifying, qualifying, and soliciting donors.
  • Support the Sr. Director of Philanthropy in advancing the major gifts program.

Specific Duties:

  • Identify, cultivate, and steward potential major gift donors.
  • Solicit and secure major gift commitments from existing donors.
  • Prepare and present compelling proposals to potential donors.
  • Track and analyze major gift fundraising metrics in the database.
  • Utilize fundraising and marketing tools to enhance major giving efforts.
  • Create detailed reports on the progress of the major gift program.
  • Collaborate with board members and staff on fundraising initiatives.
  • Engage with donors through various giving vehicles, including DAFs, legacy, and endowment gifts.
  • Align efforts with the development team to set and achieve fundraising goals.
  • Maintain strong relationships with donors, keeping them informed about the impact of their contributions and organizational activities.
  • Support and attend donor stewardship and fundraising events.
  • Work with the Marketing Team to support campaigns and donor communications.
  • Grow the Just One-Wish Program, which promotes the adoption of wish portions for children waiting for their wishes.
  • Foster a culture of philanthropy within the organization.
  • Support the Sr. Director of Philanthropy with Wishmakers Council meetings and other auxiliary groups.
  • Adhere to Make-A-Wish America performance standards and internal controls, policies, and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Work with Volunteer Services to engage volunteers as potential donors.
  • Identify opportunities to increase donor giving, including monthly and annual contributions, and reengage lapsed donors.

Job Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in major gift fundraising or related development roles (10 years plus & CFRE preferred).
  • Strong ability to build and maintain relationships with high-net-worth individuals.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Salesforce or similar CRM software.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a team and independently.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Northern AZ Tribal and Regional Ambassador
Reports To: Vice President of Mission Delivery
Classification: Full Time/Exempt

The Role:
Make-A-Wish Arizona is expanding throughout the mosaic of communities within Arizona, primarily within the Northern region, growing its engagement and wish granting efforts. We recognize that Arizona’s sovereign tribes are a key factor in its mission to grant a wish to each eligible child within the state. This budding position is responsible for increasing volunteer and community engagement while maintaining a high degree of diplomacy and customer service, as well as is responsible for growing wish referrals while ensuring that the complex and delicate rules around qualification for a wish are followed. This person will also be a tribal liaison supporting the various Arizona indigenous communities through education, engagement, and communication, while serving as a connector between state-wide Native governments and communities, medical agencies, community agencies and Make-A-Wish Arizona.

This person is part of a team that is responsible for the strategic development and implementation of a medical outreach and community engagement programs with a goal to increase wish referrals and strengthen relationships while increasing visibility of Make-A-Wish within all underserved communities of Northern Arizona. As an ambassador to the various northern communities, this person must reside in Northern AZ.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

· Assists in the process of incoming Northern Arizona referrals from wish children, wish parents, or other medical referral sources, with excellent customer service and communication.

· Engage tribal nations in discussions on mutually beneficial partnership activities and opportunities.

· Ensures incoming referrals are expedited within standards of recommended time period. Keep abreast of Make-A-Wish America policies, guidelines, and resources as they relate to referral intakes, medical eligibility, and the required wish documentation.

· Work with Tribal partners to ensure alignment of the Tribes’ and Make-A-Wish Arizona’s priorities for increased referrals and community engagement.

· Inputs, updates, maintains and tracks wish child and referral source information in Salesforce database system

· Maintains proper documentation for family, medical referral source, and volunteer records throughout engagement efforts that follow National requirements.

· Oversees all aspects of community engagement outreach within Northern Arizona– identifying, establishing, educating and managing new referral and volunteer recruitment sources for Make-A-Wish Arizona.

· Evaluates referral and outreach trends and identifies new community and medical resources within the referral markets to strategically determine the best outreach methods.

· Assists with the recruitment of volunteers by networking with the local community, businesses, and managing our online presence on various recruitment websites.

· Assists in development and implementation of the annual referral outreach plan and periodically assesses tactics, strategies and results.

· Deepens community engagement by:

· Coordinating activities to ensure and enhance service and presence with the specified communities of Northern Arizona that reflect the diversity of our service population, particularly among First Nations

· Creating strategic local relationships and partnerships

· Identifying and assessing participation in community opportunities to maximize Make-A-Wish Arizona presence

· Develops communication strategies to grow and maintain referral and volunteer recruitment sources. Works closely with the community liaisons within the underserved populations to identify training/speaking/engagement opportunities. Update referral community regarding any changes in national policies, guidelines, and resources related to eligibility and medical outreach efforts. Works with Community Engagement Department to communicate upcoming volunteer opportunities, required training and policy updates.

· As opportunities arise, travel to outlying Northern Arizona counties including, but not limited to: Navajo, Mojave, Apache, Coconino, Yavapai, and Gila; to support fundraising, outreach, volunteer recruitment, and community events.

· Collaborate with internal teams to integrate cultural sensitivity and develops community culture programs and processes that are reflective of that community

· Creates and manages local community councils, including solicitation of community stewards.

· The Tribal Ambassador will build and seek out partnerships, bridge the lines of communication and serve as the primary contact for tribal leaderships when interacting with Make-A-Wish Arizona.

· Facilitate and participate in identified local community and tribal committees, forums, councils, and meetings to strengthen relationships within Arizona communities.

Job Qualifications:

Knowledge, Skill & Ability:

· The ideal candidate will possess a firm grasp of tribal sovereignty, systems, and the intersection with non-tribal governments, community-based organizations and businesses

· Have a deep understanding and respect for Native American cultures, traditions, and protocols

· Ability to manage multiple priorities and complex projects on a tight deadline

· Ability to facilitate adult-learning sessions.

· Occasional stooping, bending, lifting, standing for long periods of time, carrying of materials and boxes weighing less than 50lbs.

· Ability to travel to fulfill departmental and organizational duties, including throughout Arizona and the United States, as needed

· Must have valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

· Must have reliable internet services

· Bilingual preferred (Native Language(s)/English)

Training/Education:

· Bachelor’s degree in Community Relations/Engagement, Non-Profit Management, Social Services, Child Development, Nursing, Child Life Specialist, or other health sciences preferred

· Familiarity Microsoft Office Suite and database management software, preferably Salesforce

Experience:

· 2+ yrs. of social services experience, child development, volunteer coordination, community relations/engagement communications, non-profit experience, or comparable.

· 2+ years of adept community organizing

· Minimum 2+ years of specialized experience that includes responsibility for advising and/or engaging in tribal consultation and coordination; coordinating tribal outreach efforts with appropriate offices; evaluating sensitive projects and providing recommendations on necessary steps to resolve issues; program design and implementation; and communicating technical and non-technical information to a diverse audience
