A Pool Party!
Eight-year-old Nathaniel is a determined and deeply creative child who meets every day with quiet strength. In 2023, he was diagnosed with a neuromuscular disorder, yet Nathaniel is bright, expressive, and incredibly observant, someone who does not let much get past him. With the support of his speech, occupational, and physical therapists, he continues to build skills and engage with the world in ways that reflect his unique spirit. He loves working with clay, bringing ideas to life with his hands, and creating digital art on his tablet, where his imagination can shine without limits. He also loves Disney music, his favorite movie is Cars, and he would like to be Lightning McQueen!
He is happiest near the beach and in the water. Because Nathaniel is non-ambulatory, the water offers something truly special: freedom. So, when he was given the chance to have a wish granted, his choice was simple and heartfelt: pool party with his family. Nathaniel was welcomed into his pool party by supporters holding Cars-themed posters, setting the stage for a celebration filled with his favorite things. Using a waterproof wheelchair, he entered the walk-in pool and spent time playing water games and enjoying the water alongside his family.
In the water, Nathaniel can move more easily, feel weightless, and experience a sense of independence and joy that is hard to find anywhere else. Afterward, the celebration continued in a private room transformed for a Cars-themed party, complete with pizza, cake, and Nathaniel’s favorite snacks—popcorn and Sour Patch Kids. Surrounded by the people who love him most, his wish was more than a celebration. It was a chance to laugh, connect, and feel completely free.
“Nate enjoyed the pool so much! It was so amazing to see him so free and enjoying life. I’ll never forget those moments. His wish brought happiness and joy to our family.”
