For more than a decade, Paul and Angie Martino of Elmhurst have supported the mission of Make-A-Wish Illinois through both generous philanthropy and meaningful leadership. Paul joined the Board of Directors in 2023, serving as a member of the Fund Development Committee, and Angie was an active member of the Wish Ball Committee, each playing an important role in advancing our work.
Their impact extends beyond their own giving. Through their Wish Ball sponsorship, they inspire others to get involved—regularly offering matching opportunities that encourage new and increased support from our community.
Paul has also helped expand the organization's network by recruiting new supporters, including members of the Board. His deepened commitment to Make-A-Wish was shaped by a 30+ year career in healthcare and a meaningful connection with co-founder Tommy Austin, reinforcing his belief in the life-changing power of a wish. Inspired by the incredible resilience of wish children across Illinois, Paul and Angie are honoring them with a transformational gift to the Starblazer Award program.
The Starblazer Awards recognize those who were granted a wish by Make-A-Wish who, inspired by their lasting impact of their wish, are now making a positive impact on the world – through their community, their workplace, or philanthropy. Anyone may submit a nomination, and alumni may also apply to be considered at wish.org/starblazer.
