Make-A-Wish Vermont & Northeast New York to Honor Actor who Portrays Dos Equis’ “Most Interesting Man in the World,” Jonathan Goldsmith for a Decade of Service to Wish Kids at Saratoga Gala
Make-A-Wish Vermont & Northeast New York will honor actor and longtime volunteer Jonathan Goldsmith on March 7 at its Second Annual Whiskey, Wine, & Wishes Gala at the historic Canfield Casino in Saratoga Springs, recognizing his decade of service to children with critical illnesses through Make-A-Wish.
Goldsmith, the actor who portrays Dos Equis’ Most Interesting Man in the World in commercials, is one of the most iconic advertising characters of all time. He has recently returned to that role in a new Dos Equis campaign, bringing renewed national attention to the character.
For the past ten years, Goldsmith has worked as a volunteer for Make-A-Wish Vermont & Northeast New York, promoting chapter events and helping raise funds through appearances and advocacy. One of the most visible examples of his commitment was his role as host of the Vermont Beardies campaign, a signature initiative supporting wish-granting for local children.
The evening will feature musical entertainment by Oteil Burbridge of Dead & Company, a celebrated bassist and recording artist, who will be performing with Saratoga Springs’ own The Ten Most Wanted Band. The program will be hosted by Tom Bodett, known for his work with NPR’s Wait Wait… Don’t Tell Me! and as the longtime voice of Motel 6, where he famously reminded travelers that “we’ll leave the light on for you.”
James Hathaway, President and CEO of Make-A-Wish Vermont & Northeast New York, said the organization is proud to recognize Goldsmith’s lasting impact.
“Jonathan has been part of our Make-A-Wish family for a decade,” said Hathaway. “He has shown up again and again for Wish Kids and for our chapters, lending his voice, his time, and his heart to help make wishes come true.”
The Whiskey, Wine, & Wishes Gala brings together supporters from across Vermont and Northeast New York to raise funds that support wish-granting for children facing critical illnesses.
