Child Life Specialist Hired to Lead Medical Outreach | Leadership Reorganization to Strengthen Wish-Granting Capacity

Make-A-Wish Vermont & Northeast New York announced staffing changes to ensure the chapter reaches every eligible child across its 20,000-square-mile region.

Maureen Sharkey of Gansevoort, New York Named Medical Outreach and Intake Manager

In order to more efficiently reach every eligible child in the region, the chapter has hired Maureen Sharkey, MS, CCLS (Certified Child Life Specialist). Maureen has spent nearly a decade in the Capitol Region providing support to families facing serious childhood illness, including eight years as a certified child life specialist at Albany Medical Center.

"I am truly honored and so excited to step into the role of Medical Outreach and Intake Manager at Make-A-Wish Vermont & Northeast New York," Sharkey said. "I look forward to working closely with the community and medical partners to expand our reach and make a lasting impact in the lives of these incredible kids."

Scott Liloia of Hadley, New York Promoted to Director of Program

Scott Liloia has been promoted from Senior Wish Manager to Director of Program. He will lead a team of experienced program managers to ensure the magical delivery of wishes to every child. Liloia brings not only empathy and understanding, but eight years of experience with Make-A-Wish and an additional 10-year career serving children with serious illnesses.

"When a child is diagnosed with a critical illness, their medical team becomes their lifeline and we want to be right there alongside them," said Jamie Hathaway, President & CEO. "Maureen's role ensures we're building bridges with doctors and nurses who see these kids every day, while Scott and our program team strengthen our ability to reach more kids and create more magical experiences. These additions help us bring hope, strength, and joy to families across our region when they need it most."

Make-A-Wish Vermont & Northeast New York, which granted over 120 wishes last year, is positioned to extend its reach deeper into communities with this strengthened team, ensuring hope, strength, and joy are accessible to every eligible child in the region.
