Bacigalupi Vineyards: Growing grapes and granting wishes
By Corey Black
For more than 70 years, Bacigalupi Vineyards has been a cornerstone of Russian River Valley winemaking, sourcing exceptional grapes for top wineries in Napa and Sonoma—while crafting some outstanding wines of their own.
“We grow Chardonnay, Pinot, Zinfandel, and Petite Sirah, and sell our grapes to a number of really amazing winery partners,” shares Katey Bacigalupi Row, a third-generation member and co-manager of the family business.
“We also make our own brand—about three thousand cases—so just kind of a small, family operation growing grapes and making wine in the Russian River Valley,” she adds.
As a multigenerational, family-owned operation, the Bacigalupi Vineyards team has a deep-rooted sense of community and investing in others. “Giving back is something that’s really important to our family,” says Row.
Since 2022, that shared commitment to their community has inspired Bacigalupi Vineyards to partner with Make-A-Wish Greater Bay Area for their annual Designate Tasting Event. Hosted at the beautiful Grand Cru Custom Crush in Windsor each July, the walk-around tasting showcases over a dozen highly acclaimed wineries, all of whom source their grapes from Bacigalupi Vineyards. The event also offers bites from local favorite The Cook and The Drummer, live music, and a silent auction that benefits Make-A-Wish Greater Bay Area.
Our guests are super philanthropic, and they love giving back. So, adding that element to the event with Make-A-Wish is a natural fit for our guests and for the wineries as well.

Thanks to Bacigalupi Vineyards’ generosity, a percentage of every ticket sold—and 100% of proceeds from the silent auction—supports greater Bay Area wish kids.
“A lot of our guests are super philanthropic, and they love giving back,” Row says. “So, adding that element to the event with Make-A-Wish is a natural fit for our guests and for the wineries as well. It was an easy choice.”
Like many in the greater Bay Area, Row’s first introduction to Make-A-Wish was Miles’ wish to be Batkid. “I remember seeing the videos,” she says. “The whole community just came together for him. Now as a mom of two boys, that still really resonates with me.”
In just four years, Bacigalupi Vineyards has raised more than $60,000—enough to grant six wishes for children with critical illnesses in the greater Bay Area.
“We’re incredibly grateful to the team at Bacigalupi Vineyards for their heartfelt support,” says CEO Betsy Biern. “Their partnership, along with the generosity of their guests, reflects the deep sense of connection, community, and compassion that runs through wine country.”
When it comes to raising funds for Make-A-Wish Greater Bay Area, the only limit is your imagination.
