On June 22, 2025, Make-A-Wish Vermont & Northeast New York brought joy to Congress Park in Saratoga Springs, NY as Wish Families, volunteers, staff, and community partners gathered for Walk For Wishes, raising $40,000 to grant life-changing wishes for children facing critical illnesses across the region.

"This event perfectly captures the spirit of our Saratoga Springs community. Having this event so close to our Dr. J. Peter McPartlon Wishing Space, which opened just over a year ago, shows what's possible when an entire community comes together to support children and families in crisis," said Jamie Hathaway, President & CEO of Make-A-Wish Vermont & Northeast New York.

The event featured a one mile walk through Congress Park led by President & CEO Jamie Hathaway, Saratoga Mayor John Safford. Participants enjoyed activities including face painting, hands-on activities from the Children's Museum at Saratoga, rides on the iconic Congress Park carousel, custom stuffed animals from Best Stuffies, music from SED & Friends, Kona Ice treats, and appearances by beloved characters including members of the 501st Legion – An International Star Wars Costuming Organization, Saratoga Bluey, Alphie from the Albany FireWolves, and Spike the Firebird from the Albany Firebirds.

The funds raised will support Make-A-Wish Vermont & Northeast New York's mission to grant 120 life-changing wishes in 2025. With wishes costing an average of $12,000 each, every dollar raised helps bring hope, strength, and joy to children during their healing process.

The event was made possible through the generous support of presenting sponsor Upstate Chevrolet, hope sponsors Adirondack Trust Company and Adirondack Beverage, food sponsor Fat Paulies Deli, and additional sponsors Market 32 and DeCrescente Distributing.

A special highlight of the event was when Wish Kids Reagan and Matilda took to the stage to share their inspiring wish stories with the crowd, bringing the mission to life for all attendees. The event also celebrated 11-year-old Emily, operator of Best Stuffies, who won this year's T-Shirt Design Contest. Her winning design is featured on the shirts worn by all walkers after she raised nearly $800 during the April design competition.

Research shows that 95% of children gain the strength they need to continue fighting their illness after their wish is granted. Medical providers often add a wish to a child's treatment plan because nine out of 10 say a wish increases compliance with treatment.
