Military Dependents Fund
Each year, Make-A-Wish San Diego grants the wishes of local children battling critical illnesses whose families are active duty or veterans of all branches of the Armed Services
Make-A-Wish San Diego’s Military Fund empowers our brave local military families by covering all direct wish costs for their children.
When a child is diagnosed with a critical illness, their entire world is turned upside down. Lengthy hospital stays, medical treatments, and isolation often become the new norm. For military families, this may also mean facing these challenges while navigating deployments, relocations, and the unique uncertainties of military life—adding to the stress, worry, and exhaustion. As one parent and veteran shared, “From our experience, it is extremely difficult for children going through these treatments to see the light at the end of the tunnel. And the stress that we have had to experience as parents has been staggering. Make-A-Wish has done wonders to heal us as a family and reenergize our will to fight this disease.”
Through the Military Dependents Fund, wish experiences offer children hope and healing at a time when their families are balancing the emotional toll of illness with the demands of military life. These wishes bring comfort, connection, and renewed strength to the entire family.
We hope you’ll join us in granting wishes for children facing critical illnesses while living the realities of military life. Your generous support helps give these families the gift of joy, hope, and the transformational power of a wish come true.
