Update & Fire Resources

We hope you are safe. It is heartbreaking to see the level of devastation across Los Angeles, and our hearts go out to everyone in our community and greater LA. 

We know many of our wish families, volunteers, wish community, and staff are affected by the ongoing fires.  Below is a list of resources and services available as the situation continues to evolve.  

Our team is still operating and continuing to plan and grant wishes, and we are working directly with families whose wishes have been impacted by the fires. We are thinking of you and wish you safety and strength as we move forward in the weeks ahead.  

Fire & Air Quality Information 

Real-Time Updates:  

  • Visit  AirNow.gov or download the AirNow app to monitor local air quality conditions. 

  • Stream updates on Fox11 (no cable necessary) 

  • Get notifications by signing up for NotifyLA 

  • Safety Tips: Limit outdoor activities, keep windows and doors closed, and use air purifiers if available. 

Emergency Assistance:

  • Evacuation Shelters: If you are affected by evacuations, shelters are available. For locations, contact your local Red Cross office or visit their website. 

  • 211 LA is partnering with Airbnb to offer free temporary shelter for people displaced from their homes by fire. Start by filling out this form 

  • YMCA of Metropolitan Los Angeles is opening its locations that aren't affected by the fires for temporary shelter, showers, basic amenities, and mental health support. They are also providing childcare services (5 years and up) for first responders and families affected by the fires
