Volunteer Spotlight: Our Fall 2024 Interns

Volunteer Spotlight: Our Fall 2024 Interns

This October, we’re thrilled to shine a spotlight on our incredible Fall intern cohort! We have 8 talented interns this semester, each working in different departments, bringing fresh ideas, and making meaningful contributions to our mission. From marketing to wish granting, they’re already leaving their mark, and we couldn’t be more excited to watch them grow and thrive throughout the season. We’re so grateful for all their hard work and dedication—it’s truly inspiring to see how much heart they bring to everything they do.

Annapaula Herrera
Annapaula’s desire to help children facing significant challenges aligned perfectly with Make-A-Wish’s mission. What inspired her most is the organization’s ability to bring joy and hope to children and their families. For her, the most rewarding aspect of the internship is seeing firsthand the profound impact a wish can have on a child’s life. Staying motivated comes easily by focusing on the positive changes they create. She’s learned the importance of empathy and meaningful connection, qualities she plans to carry into her future career as a physical therapist.

Bhavika Chandak
Growing up, Bhavika always admired the work of Make-A-Wish, so when the opportunity to intern arose, she was thrilled. The highlight of her internship has been feeling like a true member of the team, especially when her work is reflected in Salesforce. Volunteering fills her with purpose, knowing that even a small amount of time can make a big difference in someone’s life. Bhavika’s key takeaway from this experience is the value of asking questions early on, which helps foster growth and allows her to better contribute in meaningful ways.

Cole Kelley
Cole was eager to put his design skills to use for a cause he cares about, and Make-A-Wish provided the perfect opportunity. His favorite part of the internship has been collaborating with a fantastic team and contributing wherever he’s needed. Cole stays inspired by following the incredible work Make-A-Wish does and witnessing the impact of wishes granted. One lasting lesson he’s learned is that serving others is deeply rewarding, and it’s a value he plans to carry into his future career.

Danielle Bell
Danielle felt drawn to Make-A-Wish’s mission because of its positive impact on children’s lives, aligning with her own passion for making a difference. For her, the most rewarding aspect of the internship is working with wish kids’ photos while designing, seeing their smiles, and knowing she’s part of their joyful experiences. Danielle stays motivated by pursuing her interests in design while gaining new skills, and she’s learned that clear communication is key to success in any project—lessons that will shape her future in graphic design.

Fernanda Porras
Fernanda joined Make-A-Wish because she was inspired by the organization’s mission to bring joy to children with critical illnesses. The most fulfilling part of her internship has been seeing how her efforts contribute to making wishes come true and positively impacting children’s lives. She stays motivated by her belief in the importance of service and the resilience of the children she helps. From this experience, she’s learned the value of purpose-driven work and compassion, which she plans to apply in her future career.

Kaci Dobbs
Kaci’s journey to Make-A-Wish started with volunteering, where she discovered a passion for working with wish families. She was inspired to intern after seeing how much of a difference wishes can make in the lives of children. The most rewarding part of her internship has been hearing directly from families about how their children’s wishes help them cope with difficult treatments. Kaci’s learned how unique everyone’s story is, a lesson that has broadened her perspective and will stay with her throughout her career.

Meredith McGannon
Meredith’s connection to Make-A-Wish began with her involvement in Chi Omega at TCU, where she saw firsthand the impact of the wish-granting process. The most rewarding part of her internship has been using her marketing and communication skills to share inspiring stories about wish kids. Staying motivated is easy for her, as she feels personally connected to Make-A-Wish’s mission and sees the happiness it brings to families. Meredith has learned the importance of collaboration and teamwork, which she will carry forward in her professional journey.

Neilahi Sanchez
