Jacinto’s Wish: A Life-Changing Birthday Party

For eight-year-old Jacinto, lovingly called ‘Cinto’ by his family, getting around isn’t always easy. So, when Cinto made life-enhancing medical equipment his wish, we made it happen. We gave him a gait trainer, a supportive walking aid suggested by his care team that’s designed to help him practice ambulating at home. We also provided him with a Roosevelt Car Seat, which is a special seat that keeps him safe in the vehicle while traveling. And we set up a portable wheelchair ramp at his house, to make getting in and out smooth and easy.

A Super Hero Birthday Wish Comes True for Eight-Year-Old Jacinto

When we learned about eight-year-old Jacinto's dream of a superhero birthday celebration, we knew we had to make it extraordinary. 'Cinto,' as his family lovingly calls him, got his wish and so much more – a day filled with superhero magic and life-changing equipment that would help him navigate his world with greater independence.

The celebration at Harmony Banquet Hall in Schenectady transformed into a gathering of superheroes, with friends and family donning capes and masks in honor of Cinto's favorite characters. Though everyone came dressed as different superheroes that day, the real superhero was Cinto himself, showing incredible strength and resilience through his journey.

Beyond the birthday celebration, Cinto's wish included equipment that would dramatically improve his daily life. A new gait trainer, recommended by his care team, now helps him practice walking at home, giving him more independence with each step. A specialized Roosevelt Car Seat ensures safe and comfortable car rides, opening up new adventures for the whole family. The installation of a portable wheelchair ramp at his house has made coming and going a smoother experience, allowing Cinto to enter and exit his home with ease.

The kindness of the community shone through when Fourth Grade Girl Scout Troop 3847 of Burnt Hills, NY, learned about Cinto's wish. The troop went above and beyond by donating a cozy new recliner – the perfect spot for Cinto to relax and enjoy his favorite TV shows after a day of superhero adventures.

Today, thanks to his wish, Cinto's daily life is filled with more comfort, independence, and joy. His new equipment helps him move more freely, travel safely, and rest comfortably – proving that sometimes real superhero powers come in the form of mobility aids and community support.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to Girl Scout Troop 3847, Harmony Banquet Hall, and all our generous donors and supporters who helped make Cinto's superhero wish come true. Their contributions have given Cinto not just a memorable celebration, but tools that will continue to enhance his life every day.
