Axel, a vibrant 12-year-old, loves drawing, running, and playing basketball, but his true passion lies in adventurous open-world video games like Minecraft. Diagnosed with leukemia, Axel often immersed himself in the fantasy worlds that offered an escape from his daily challenges.  

As he underwent chemotherapy, antibiotics, and blood transfusions, gaming became Axel's refuge. These treatments are essential for battling infections but also serve as constant reminders of the journey he and his family faced. Despite these trials, Axel’s optimism shined through in his love for the creativity of video games.  

When it came time to choose his wish, Axel knew exactly what he wanted — electronics were at the top. "I love video games," he said. "When I think about my wish, I picture myself playing all the games I've dreamed of owning." 

As Axel began his shopping spree, visiting store after store to pick out each game and device, the reality of his wish began to sink in — his dream had come true. With every new addition to his collection, his excitement grew, and he imagined the countless hours of fun ahead. 

Watching her son light up with joy, Axel's mom couldn’t help but reach out to Make-A-Wish North Texas to share her gratitude. "I just wanted to thank the foundation for all the gifts Axel received. The whole day was so emotional, especially the shopping trip." For Axel’s family, the memories of that special day, thoughtfully planned just for him, will always be cherished.
