Adelle is Back in BC!

If you drew an imaginary line from Spokane, Washington, up to Banff, British Columbia, west to Vancouver, and back to Spokane, and then looked in the center of that triangle, you’d be looking at Kaslo, British Columbia. This picturesque village, situated on the western shore of Kootenay Lake and known for its mountainous terrain and impressive scenery, was also the setting for thirteen-year-old Wish Kid Adelle’s wish. But Adelle chose this location for something a little more personal as Kaslo is also the home of her grandparents, Honora and Lucas.

Adelle, who’s from Northfield, VT, had traveled to Kaslo in 2022 to visit her grandparents and had such a wonderful time, she made it her wish to return once again. This time, Adelle and her family spent a little time exploring the area and visited Ainsworth Hot Springs. Known as Mother Nature’s natural sauna, this spa features an outdoor mineral water pool, a natural cold plunge, and the famous Ainsworth hot springs cave.  Adelle also had the chance to do something she never imagined she’d ever do while in Kaslo—speed across the smooth surface of Kootenay Lake on a WaveRunner! And of course, no trip is ever complete without sampling the local fare, and Adelle had a particular fondness for a vegan pizzeria that served pizza she absolutely loved.

But the highlight of Adelle’s British Columbia adventure stemmed from the reason she chose Kaslo in the first place: the chance to visit with two very special family members. She relished her time picking currants in the garden with her grandmother Honora and learned something new as her grandfather Lucas explained the advanced tools and machinery in his workshop.

Visiting with family is always special, but it becomes an extra special experience when it’s a wish come true. Adelle said it herself when she told us:

"This makes me feel better; like something good came out of all the medical stuff I went through because it means I got to have this trip."

Adelle’s wish would never have happened without the generous support and commitment of our donors wish granters. Thank you.
