Edan's wish to have a greenhouse
Edan, 14, is one step closer to starting his own business thanks to his wish to have a greenhouse.
Cooking has always been a passion for Edan, who takes great pride in making recipes with clean, organic produce he grows at home. He’s very eco-conscious and never uses pesticides in his garden to ensure only the healthiest and tastiest ingredients are grown. At the moment, he’s eagerly waiting for his vegetables to ripen so he can make his favorite recipe- homemade pizza.
Although a clean diet had always played an important role in Edan’s life, it became even more critical after he was diagnosed with leukemia. Despite dealing with the debilitating side of effects of chemotherapy, Edan continued to maintain his healthy eating habits and took comfort in the activity he loved most, nurturing his garden.
When given the opportunity to choose a wish, he knew exactly what he wanted: a greenhouse to take his love of gardening to the next level. He enthusiastically shared pictures with his Wish Granters of the glass structure he envisioned with rows of planters lining the walls. The idea was inspired by his grandma, who has a greenhouse of her own. Edan said, “Having a greenhouse is important to me because I’m passionate about cooking, and I want fresh ingredients for my dishes.” His passion doesn’t stop there, Edan ultimately hopes to create his own business and sell the produce he grows.
When Edan’s wish day finally arrived, he said, “If I was a crier, I’d be sobbing!” As Edan explored his new greenhouse, he couldn’t believe the endless opportunities now on the horizon. His parents watched in amazement as he showed more energy and enthusiasm than he had in months. Edan’s mission statement of “Quality over Quantity” has become well known in his community and neighbors have started referring to his greenhouse as “The Jewel of Ramona.” Edan’s wish has allowed him to plant the seeds for a better tomorrow, figuratively and literally; it will help him not only continue to grow his produce, but also begin a new chapter in his life.
