Make-A-Wish New Mexico internships are coveted, both because of the inspiring mission and because interns get real-world experience alongside talented professionals. We offer several unpaid internships for each of the Spring, Summer and Fall semesters. All internships are based at the Make-A-Wish New Mexico office in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Internship Cycles

FALL: Early September – Early December (Applications accepted through July 31st)

SPRING: Early January – Late April (Applications accepted October 1st – November 30th)

SUMMER:  Mid May – Early August (Applications accepted March 1st – April 30th)

All internships are unpaid and based at the Make-A-Wish New Mexico office.

How to Apply

The Make-A-Wish New Mexico internship program is designed for young professionals with a goal of being a leader in the nonprofit sector. All interns must be 18 years of age or older.

We are now accepting applications for our 2021 Fall Internship Program.

Internship Guidelines

Professional Behavior: As representatives of Make-A-Wish New Mexico, all staff and interns are expected to have professional communication skills, including phone and email etiquette. Please understand that you are a representative of Make-A-Wish New Mexico and your conduct reflects on the organization. Staff and interns are, consequently, encouraged to observe the highest standards of professionalism at all times.

Volunteer Role: Make-A-Wish New Mexico is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization with the mission to grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy. While Make-A-Wish New Mexico internships offer a wide range of real-world experiences to help you grow professionally, please understand all of the positions below require voluntary time and effort and are unpaid internships.

Development and Events Internships

Development staff members are responsible for the identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of funds directed to our chapter.

Development Internship
Positions Available: 4 (Fall 2021 semester) 
Classification: Unpaid

The Development Intern will assist the development department with annual fundraising efforts that include, but are not limited to, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding corporate and foundation donors. Responsibilities will include cause-related marketing projects, donor solicitation and stewardship - all in an effort to raise funds needed to grant wishes. This intern will be instrumental to securing auction items for our annual gala, Wine & Wishes.

Marketing and Communications Internships

Marketing staff members are responsible for marketing, public relations, communications and creative services, as well as managing local events and brand campaigns.

Marketing and Public Relations Internship
Positions Available: 1 (Fall 2021 semester) 
Classification: Unpaid 

The Marketing and Public Relations Intern will be responsible for supporting the public relations, marketing and promotional activities at Make-A-Wish New Mexico, the local chapter of the international wish granting organization. Work commensurate with entry-level public relations and marketing position. Strong writing and grammar skills are essential. Media and social media experience valued.
