GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Wish Granting Coordinator is responsible for the logistical planning and fulfillment of wishes, collaborating with volunteers, vendors, and community supporters to create wish experiences that are smooth, timely, and impactful.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in social services, psychology or other relevant field or 1-3 years related work experience in travel planning, hospitality, or care coordination
- Possess integrity, maturity and ethical awareness; ability to handle sensitive information and maintain strict confidentiality.
- Excellent communication, project management and organizational skills
- Exceptional attention to detail and deadlines
- Strong written and verbal communication
- Resourceful with the ability to solve problems in an efficient, calm manner
- Ability to work independently while thriving in a collaborative, team-oriented environment
- Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office, including Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint and database management, preferably Salesforce database management
- Superior teamwork skills; ability to engage and collaborate with staff and volunteers
- Ability to make decisions in a changing environment and anticipate future needs
- Must be sensitive to the issues surrounding children and families affected by life-threatening medical conditions and have a commitment to and a passion for the mission of Make-A-Wish
- Willingness to work evenings and weekends, when necessary
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, and work in a deadline driven environment
- Energetic, flexible, collaborative, and proactive
- Confidentiality and personal integrity are essential
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for the project management, delivery and completion of 50-80 wishes and wish assists as assigned, overseeing the wish granting journey from initial contact to wish completion
- Manage and collaborate with wish granting volunteers through completion of each wish
- Implement national and local wish granting policies, guidelines, standards and procedures to ensure consistent program quality
- Develop and execute budgets, resources, and project plans for assigned wishes
- Create wish experiences that meet safety, quality, timeliness, and cost standards
- Procure and maintain relationships with in-kind donors, vendors, and other partners and support volunteers to do the same to support wish granting
- Communicate with volunteers and families about wish logistics and celebrations and ensure that expectations are aligned and met
- Be proficient in entering and maintaining Salesforce/WVC wish child database, as well as wish files, as directed by national procedures
- Responsible for reconciling cash and in-kind wish expenses (credit card, hotels, limos, etc.) ensuring timely closing of wish files (60 days post wish)
- Provide 24-hour emergency coverage on wishes as needed
- Adhere to national standards and chapter policies and guidelines
- Other duties as assigned

Thank you for your interest in Make-A-Wish® Nebraska's internship program! Internship opportunities are open in the Omaha, Lincoln and Kearney offices every fall, spring, and summer semester depending on availability. Â
All of our internships are unpaid, however, volunteer hours and academic credit may be earned. Interning at Make-A-Wish Nebraska can provide valuable training and experience with non-profit work.Â
Internships are open to students or recent graduates (18-years-old or older). Successful applicants should have good organizational skills, the ability to multi-task, be proficient in Microsoft Office, and have excellent communication skills.
Interns will work primarily with our Development Staff and will participate in a variety of hands-on activities including event planning support, research, filing, and writing.Â
Specific duties include, but are not limited to:Â
- Assist with event logisticsÂ
- Help coordinate auction itemsÂ
- Help write thank you notes to donorsÂ
- Help with mailingsÂ
- Conduct fundraising researchÂ
- Reach out to potential vendorsÂ
- Other tasks as neededÂ
