The Wishing Place

Where wishes have a place to call home.

Children often come to Make-A-Wish® at a frightening time in their lives. It’s a time when playing, learning, and laughing is all too often replaced with uncertainty, hospital visits, and medical treatments. Understanding that a child’s imagination is often limited and stifled by their illness or environment, we sought to create our own permanent space for our chapter headquarters. The Make-A-Wish Central and Western North Carolina Wishing Place provides an environment that is free of limitations, confinement, and stress. It stimulates the imagination and reveals to local children the imaginative possibilities of a wish.

Funding

We will forever be grateful to all who have made this magical building possible. We know with certainty it is a place to rekindle the inner spirits of all wish children who walk through its doors.

We launched a quiet capital campaign in March 2018 in order to create The Wishing Place. Thanks to initial generous gifts from the Dale Jr. Foundation, Denard Enterprises, Albemarle Foundation, Geoffrey and Amy Brindley-Takacs, Leon and Sandra Levine Foundation, our Board of Directors and others, we've been able to bring The Wishing Place from a vision to a reality.

The Wishing Place is funded solely through private, philanthropic donations. The capital campaign completion will ensure the project is fully funded without taking a single penny away from wish granting.
