Summary
As a Wish Specialist you will be responsible for the delivery of a wish experience for children across Central and Western North Carolina (51 counties). You will be responsible for an annual case load of 80-100 wish children, with the majority residing in the Triad region.
Responsibilities
- Conduct wish discovery visits for each child that qualified for a wish, according to established performance standards and guidelines created by Make-A-Wish America.
- Utilize Salesforce to track progress and enter updates for the assigned caseload throughout the planning process.
- Research and purchase items (i.e., flights, accommodations, activities, items, etc.) related to delivering the child’s wish, while managing an assigned budget and obtaining internal approvals.
- Responsible for obtaining required signatures and documents required for each wish type.
- Works with families, volunteers, vendors, and donors throughout the wish process to ensure a quality wish experience.
- Works with volunteers and development team on the solicitation of in-kind goods and services to enhance the wish-granting process.
- Financial responsibilities include managing credit card purchases and reconciliation, check requests, accounts payable for wish expenses and final reconciliation of every wish type.
- Create and assemble itineraries for travel wishes and sends them to each wish family.
- Solicit and track all in-kind donations.
- Maintain confidentiality of records, including any information provided by volunteers, parents/guardians, medical professionals, and volunteers.
- As needed, works directly with our Medical Outreach & Intake Manager to address medical needs of wish children, or wish participants.
- Provide 24-hour emergency phone coverage for pending wishes.
- Works in partnership with development team to identify families that have an interest to Wish It Forward.
- Ability to motivate and support a diverse constituency.
- Ability to collaborate with Sr. Market Director of the Triad for community engagement opportunities.
- Other duties as assigned by the Director of Wish Granting and Vice President of Program Services.

- Ideal candidate would have logistics planning, child life, non-profit administration, human development, communications or similar background.

- Ability to work weekends and evening wishes/events/functions as required.
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent education and working experience.
Education & Experience

- Bilingual/Spanish speaking a plus!
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Must be able to lift or carry a minimum of 30 pounds.
