Summary

The Market Director – WNC will lead fundraising and donor engagement efforts for Make-A-Wish Central & Western North Carolina in the Western North Carolina regional market – a region the chapter has been servicing but not yet proactively fundraising in. This role will be responsible for building a sustainable base of support through cultivation and stewardship of donors, corporate partners, and community stakeholders. With a starting fundraising goal of $250,000, the Marketing Director will design and execute a localized fundraising strategy, manage a donor portfolio, and plan at least one signature event or campaign each year. The Market Director will work with the VP of Development & Marketing, as well as the broader Development Team, to build a sustainable growth plan to increase WNC market revenue and engagement annually. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with strong relationship building skills and a passion for advancing our mission in the community.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive fundraising and engagement plan tailored to the Western North Carolina market.
  • Build, manage, and grow a portfolio of individual, corporate, and foundation donors.
  • Meet or exceed and initial, annual fundraising goal of $250,000 with expected growth each subsequent year.
  • Plan, coordinate, and oversee and least one signature annual fundraising event and/or campaign in the market.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with community leaders, partners, and volunteers to raise awareness and support.
  • Represent the organization at community events, speaking engagements, and networking opportunities.
  • Collaborate with the broader development and marketing teams to align messaging, branding, and stewardship practices across the chapter territory.
  • Track, analyze, and report on fundraising progress and donor activity using the chapter’s SalesForce account.
  • Attend and participate in Development Team fundraising campaigns across the chapter to build cross-functional relationships.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 5-8 years of experience in fundraising, sales, or community engagement, preferably in a non-profit setting.
  • Proven success in securing financial support from individuals, corporations, or foundations.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and execute events or campaigns that meeting revenue goals.
  • Strong networking, public speaking, and relationship building skills.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently in a remote and field-based environment.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed for events or donor meetings.
  • Ability to travel to the main chapter office in Charlotte to support other team member’s events and campaigns, attend staff meetings, etc. (maximum 2 days/month)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with SalesForce or similar CRM is a plus.
  • This role is REMOTE with some nights and weekends needed around specific event dates. Active prospecting and working directly in Western North Carolina region expected.
  • Valid driver's license and access to consistent, reliable transportation
