Summary

Manager of Individual Giving and Stewardship works closely with the Development staff to secure the funds needed to advance the programs of Make-A-Wish Central and Western NC.  The Manager is responsible for growing annual revenue generated from the annual fund donors by:

  • Managing the monthly giving campaign to accelerate growth over the next two years
  • Streamlining and assisting in the donor stewardship process to include cultivating donors acquired through online and national direct mail programs
  • Managing a portfolio of donors giving up to $2,500
  • Assisting the Director of Donor Engagement with our annual giving society and annual appeal campaigns
  • The Manager will also serve as the main contact for new donors and work on strategies to qualify donors to increase the individual gift pipelines. 
  • Additional duties may come to assist the overall growth of the individual giving program.
Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in planning and executing Individual Giving communication plans including newsletters and multi-channel campaigns
  • Manage monthly giving program

  • Assist in creating a robust cultivation plan for online, direct mail, wheels for wishes and other annual fund donors

  • Alongside Individual Giving team, increase the donor pipelines through research and qualifying donors.

  • Manage individual giving stewardship process 

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):

  • Alongside Director of Donor Engagement, complete 12 general e-newsletters, 6 monthly giving newsletters, and at least 2 annual appeal campaigns, 1 annual report and other donor communication   
  • Grow monthly giving revenue by at least 10% each year and develop a cultivation plan to retain donors in this program.

  • Increase donor retention rates by developing a cultivation plan to include a new donor welcome series and developing specific plans for different donor segments.

  • Maintain a portfolio of at least 25 donors at all times that are being qualified to move into larger portfolios.  

  • Ensure all acknowledgement letters and stewardship actions are promptly completed and disbursed amongst the appropriate team member utilizing wealth screening tools

Essential Skills and Abilities:

  • Exceptional donor-centric communication skills with the ability to adapt to different donor audiences.
  • Ability to work amongst teams to complete tasks.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and achieve objectives.
  • Shows consistent and positive interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills.
  • Available to work evenings and weekends to ensure coverage at donor events.
  • Experience working with customer/donor databases with a preference for Salesforce.
  • The successful candidate should have strong written and oral communication skills and demonstrate creativity and persistence in cultivating current and potential donors.
  • He/she should have the ability to manage difficult or complex situations and/or people with tact, confidence, and diplomacy.
  • Knowledgeable on creating complex plans and executing them to create and maintain success of multiple giving programs
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.  Ability to apply concepts such as frequency distribution and correlation techniques.
  • Feels comfortable speaking with donors on the phone and in person.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree. 2-4 years fundraising, with a focus on individual giving and stewardship.
  • Proven track record of success.
  • Available to work a varied schedule, including evenings and weekends
  • This is an in-person role. Candidate must be based in the greater Charlotte, NC area. Working environment is hybrid with time in the office and in the field with donors.
  • Willingness to travel throughout region.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle.
