Jessa Crowned as Queen
The story of Queen Jessa’s fairytale is one of triumph through struggle – at only the age of five, Jessa has proven to be stronger than many imagined she ever would be. When Jessa was born, her medical team said she would be extremely mentally and physically delayed due to her rare nervous system disorder. However, this did not stop her parents from giving her a life that would be extraordinary – one fit for royalty!
A true girlie girl who loves dresses, shoes and anything sparkly, Jessa loves participating in pageants. Her parents explained that when she first started doing pageants, she was unable to speak due to physical disabilities. As she participated in more pageants, there was a remarkable transformation as she became more confident in herself. Her love of the spotlight, and pageantry life inspired her wish: to have her own Coronation Ball and be crowned the Queen in front of all her friends and family!
Jessa had one Royal Decree for her Coronation Ball - That all in attendance wear her favorite color: yellow. On the night of the ball, a sea of vibrant yellow flooded into the room as everyone anxiously waited to greet the new Queen! Before appearing before her guests, Jessa took a horse and carriage ride around the streets of Charlotte to wave and say hello to all her royal subjects. After this ride, she was paraded inside with the help of the Carolina Panthers Purrcussion drumline. Everyone cheered, clapped and waved their yellow wands to the beating of the drums and cymbals. Jessa was then escorted to the stage where she was crowned the Queen in front of all her friends, family and supporters. The rest of the evening was a fairytale ending as the ballroom filled with swirls of yellow as everyone danced and mingled.
After the wish, Jessa's mom said, “My favorite part of the wish was getting to see Jessa be truly who she sees herself to be inside. Because for her, in that moment, it had nothing to do with her being the little girl in a wheelchair or having this disability that will affect her for her whole life. Just seeing her know that none of that defined her that night. That she was just the pure sunshine she is and larger than life.”
