Meet wish kid Derek, an 8-year-old who loves Skittles, cheeseburgers and Legos. This active little boy enjoys the outdoors, campfires, and going to the park when he’s not receiving medical treatments. See, Derek needed a bone marrow transplant.
A ninja day at school was perfectly timed to send Derek off with a smile. He was heading out of state to get treatment and would miss some school. The local gym brought an obstacle course into the school and a representative from the American Ninja Warrior show led the fun. It was “sweeet!” When asked for his wish, Derek’s wish was to have a ninja obstacle course in his own backyard!
This happy little boy loves Star Wars, scoop ball, and playing with his younger brother. The duo love to explore and play outside. Derek could hardly wait for the added backyard fun!
When the time came for his wish to be granted, Derek’s excitement filled the family home. At the unveiling, Derek was thrilled! The super cool Ninja Obstacle Course playset included an Acrobat Swing, Warped Wall, and Quintuplet Steps – whoa! He was climbing, building new skills, and growing in confidence. Smiling, he shared the fun with his siblings.\
With worries cast aside for now, wish kid Derek’s parents were overjoyed to see their child, who has spent countless hours in doctor’s offices and hospitals, so excited. Laughing and singing, he ran around the yard, climbing and jumping over and over again.
