Allie's wish doesn't disappoint

Although 15-year-old wish kid Alexandria from Greensboro, known as Allie, has been to Disney several times, she knows there’s a lot more to see and fun to be had in Orlando. Allie’s wish is to go to Walt Disney World®.

Like many young girls, Allie loves baking and crafts. Unlike most girls, Allie is fighting leukemia and is in a wheelchair. Long hours of medical treatments and hospital stays - and missing 5th grade entirely - fostered her appreciation of card and board games, both fun activities when your energy is zapped. It also fueled her passion for Harry Potter, Star Wars, and all things Disney.

Wish kid Allie loves Italian food and aspires to learn how to make gelato and the best margherita pizza. Her interests in this area were inspired by her dad, who is Italian. Allie is interested in going to Europe and is thinking of pursuing her higher education abroad. In the meantime, she knows when she gets to Italy, she wants to visit the coliseum, which makes her imagine gladiators in action. Like them, Allie fights her enemy, in this case leukemia, like Harry fights the dark wizard Lord Voldemort and Luke fights Darth Vader. Keep fighting, Allie!

From wish mom Meredith:

“We had the most AMAZING time on Allie’s Make-A-Wish trip. While we have obviously done Disney more times than I can count, Universal was a new experience for us and it did not disappoint. As huge Harry Potter fans, walking into Diagon Alley, Hogsmeade, and Hogwarts was unreal. It felt like we had walked into the movies,” said Meredith, Allie’s mother.

“Even better than the parks was Give Kids the World, which is the resort where wish families stay on a Disney or Universal wish,” continues wish mom Meredith. “It is the most magical place where the stress of having a critically ill child disappears. I cannot put into words what the village was like. Just pure MAGIC. The BEST part of the trip though was the time we spent together as a family. It was a magical week that we will always remember."
