The primary responsibility of this position will be to research and analyze individual, corporate, and foundation prospects and produce concise profiles. Additional responsibilities include maintaining research and other key information in our donor database, assisting with special projects related to fundraising, and administrative work related to research and operations. The work provides critical information needed to secure funding in support of Make-A-Wish’s programs. This is a hands-on internship opportunity for a student interested in exploring a career in nonprofits. Research, verify and analyze biographical, financial, and philanthropic information on individual, corporate, and foundation donors and prospects.

Prepare concise, in-depth profiles on individuals, corporations, and foundations for use by the Development team.

Identify connections between Make-A-Wish Minnesota Board members, key volunteers, senior leaders, and donors/prospects.

Monitor news on key corporate partners, nonprofit sector, Board members, volunteers, and prospects.

Post relevant information in the donor database, Salesforce.

Assist with projects related to research, prospecting, operations, and events.

Assist with operations-related projects and tasks related to information management, creation of donor mailing lists, acknowledgments, and creation of processes and protocols.

Attend Development team meetings as appropriate.
Training includes an orientation to the organization and the internship responsibilities on TBD. Salesforce training will be provided.
Interest in learning about the fundraising side of a non-profit, experience with Microsoft Office computer programs, strong organizational and listening skills, strong writing skills, ability to work independently, willing to accept a variety of tasks, positive attitude.
Interns will gain direct “hands-on” experience while developing an understanding of the functions that support a non-profit organization. Potential receipt of class credits depending on your university. Interns will also have the opportunity to assist the Foundation in fulfilling its mission of granting wishes to ALL Minnesota children with critical illnesses to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy. Time Commitment: Weekly commitment of 10-20 hours per week, hybrid or remote. Spring internships run January-May. Scheduling is flexible. Orientation is TBD.
