I wish to have an orange bike

Matt’s wish gives him the freedom to explore

During his cancer treatment, Matt had to limit his exposure to infection, which meant he spent many days inside and was unable to play with his friends.

Often to entertain himself, the 3-year-old would watch from the hallway window as his friends rode their bikes on the street. When wish granters asked Matt what his wish would be, Matt wished for his own bike so he could join in the fun.

“They gave him just what he needed – hope and love."

Once Matt was well enough, Make-A-Wish Minnesota surprised him with a bright orange bike – his favorite color. With a new helmet, shin pads and his bright smile, Matt was ready to ride. Matt still has a bit more to go until he finishes treatments, but he certainly is on the right path. To get through difficult days, he dreams about all the fun things he wants to do on his new orange bike.

“Matt has really felt the love from his doctors, nurses and Make-A-Wish,” said Matt’s mom, Aballa. “They gave him just what he needed – hope and love. We are grateful and happy he was given a chance to wish and it came true.”
