Joy on playset

Joy's wish helps her play outside

Joy loves to play and stay active like many other three-year-olds. Unfortunately her cancer treatment limited her ability to socialize with other children or to go out in public to playgrounds or pools.

When a trip to the Walt Disney World® Resort was not possible because of the COVID-19 pandemic, Make-A-Wish Minnesota brought the fun of a park to Joy. By granting her wish for a backyard playset, Joy can now play anytime with her sisters and will enjoy it for years to come.

Joy's family kept the day of her wish granting a surprise, only revealing it to her when the workmen arrived to put the playset in. Mom, Dad, Joy and her three sisters had a grand time posing for pictures and trying out all the playset features. "This is the best day ever!" could be overheard in between Joy's squeals and laughter as she discovered her new playset.

“Make-A-Wish has brought encouragement and happiness not only to my family but to many. I hope they will continue to provide comfort and memories for other families as they have for us.”
Evelyn
Joy's Mother

The family was so grateful to see Joy smile again saying, “seeing Joy happy, moving around and playing outweighs everything compared to seeing her lying in bed and not being able to do anything when she was first diagnosed.”, said her mother.

Thank you to Crown of Minnesota for another great playset wish and to the wonderful volunteers who helped make Joy's wish day extra special!
