Izzy's wish gives hope to others

When Izzy was 15-years-old she began seeing swelling in her face.

Initially she didn’t know what was causing her reaction, but a month later she received the news that there was a tumor growing in her chest and she was diagnosed with lymphoma.

This turned Izzy’s high school life and dreams of becoming a Hollywood star for a loop. Izzy endured three rounds of chemo therapy to fight against her cancer. Now, Izzy is 19-years-old and cancer free. She attends college at the University of Southern California where she is double majoring in acting and social change.

For her wish, Izzy chose to give back to her community. She dreamed of having a Hollywood themed party for patients and staff at Children’s Minnesota, where she received treatment.

I tried to think about what I really would have loved and enjoyed in the hospital. I wanted to give patients an experience rather than donating a physical object.

Izzy held her party at Children’s Hospital and co-hosted Kids Clubhouse in their Star Studio with “The Dude”. Her event featured two food trucks, a photo booth, music and more. She also gave out gift bags to patients. The families that attended were so grateful for the positive change of pace the party brought. A great day was had by all, and the generous impact of Izzy’s wish will forever be remembered.
