Ella’s wish lets her play safely on her own

For nine-year-old Ella, there is nothing she would like more than to play like other kids her age. But, because she was diagnosed with a nervous system disorder shortly after her first birthday, that has never been easy for her.

Her mother, Andrea, describes the moment she found out about Ella’s diagnosis. “I don’t think there are enough words to describe how devastating and scary it is to hear that your child has to suffer,” she said. Ella requires 24-hour supervision and depends on others for her daily care. She takes medications three times a day to manage her seizures.

Ella loves water but due to seizures, she is unable to swim in a pool safely. She wished to have a splash pad in her yard, and it was installed last summer. The splash pad will give her many years of joy, as she plays safely on her own in the water.

“We are forever grateful for her splash pad and the joy it brings her (and us). It allows us to be together as a family. We are so very thankful!” Andrea said. “One of our go to goals for Ella is to be safe and have fun in her community. This splash pad allows Ella to do that in her own yard…. for years to come.”
