Capturing Joy: How Greg Turns Moments into Memories for Wish Families
Meet wish dad and volunteer, Greg!
Greg’s daughter Liz was diagnosed with osteosarcoma and received her wish in 2008. During treatment, Liz found comfort in her favorite TV series, Stargate SG‑1; something she watched often to take her mind off chemo and surgeries. So, when she was referred to Make‑A‑Wish Minnesota, she knew exactly what she wanted: a trip to Vancouver to visit the Stargate SG‑1 set.
On her wish trip, Liz was all smiles as she stepped onto the set and watched scenes from the show that had carried her through so many difficult days. Greg shared, “When it was all over and to see her smile the entire time we were there was amazing.”
Inspired by the joy he saw in his daughter, Greg felt called to give back to families facing similar challenges. Over the years, he has volunteered as a wish granter, an airport greeter, and now you’ll often find him behind the camera as the photo booth photographer at Make‑A‑Wish Minnesota events.
Greg’s message for current wish kids is that “There is hope for better days! Keep fighting!”
We’re so grateful for the many ways Greg brings hope and joy to wish families. And next time you hop into the photo booth at one of our events, be sure to say hi to Greg!
