At 17, Hailey was battling lymphoma. Her wish was to go to the 2012 London Olympics

At 17, Hailey was battling lymphoma. Her wish was to go to the 2012 London Olympics; a dream she’d had her whole life. She says it was the perfect way to celebrate defeating cancer, since the athletes worked so hard to accomplish their goals, much like what kids go through to achieve remission.

She remembers watching Michael Phelps swim and even seeing the Queen of England!

“Make-A-Wish treated me like a princess! I felt SO loved and cared for, and it was the biggest blessing!”

Hailey's biggest takeaway from her wish was the sweet memories she made with her family. She shared that it was a blessing to experience her wish with her two brothers and parents after walking through a life-altering year.

Today, Hailey is married with three children and works as a pediatric hematology and oncology RN, caring for kids and families walking the same road she once did.

Her message to current wish kids: "You are AMAZING, and I am so proud of all you have done! No child deserves to have to do what you have done, but I hope you cherish the sweet memories you get to make with whatever wish you choose! Make-A-Wish is such a blessing, and I am so happy you get to work with them! They have made a forever impact on my life, and I know they will do the same for you!"

I am forever marked by this amazing organization, and the joy they brought to me and my family is something I will remember forever.
