Trevon’s wish experience was about more than going to Detroit to meet his favorite football team.

It was about being surrounded by a community of love and support, knowing that others are rooting for him.

It was about experiencing the healing power of a wish and finding the strength that will give him the courage to fight through the pain that he often experiences because of his blood disorder.

During practice, the players invited Trevon onto the field. From there, they carried him down the rest of the field to score a touchdown much to the delight of Trevon and his family.

“I wished to meet the Detroit Lions, and it was so cool,” Trevon said. “It was so much fun to go to practice and meet the entire team. I even ran across Ford Field for a touchdown with the players and coaches cheering me on. I will never forget how special that made me feel.”

Former wish kids who are now adults, wish parents and health professionals agree that a wish experience can improve a child’s physical health and emotional wellbeing.

“It impacted my child in the most amazing way possible,” Trevon’s mom, Tracie, said. “All he does is talk about meeting the Detroit Lions football team.”
