Make-A-Wish® Michigan announces Michael Hull as President & CEO

Brighton, Mich., December 2021 – Following a months-long search, the Make-A-Wish® Michigan Board of Directors is pleased to announce Michael Hull, of Royal Oak, as the organization’s new President & CEO. He will start in his new role on Jan. 4, 2022.

“Accepting the CEO position is truly a full circle life experience for me,” Hull said. “When I was a teenager, I met a family that was granted a wish by the Make-A-Wish Michigan team. Being able to witness firsthand how a wish can change someone’s life was awe-inspiring and it has always stuck with me. Joining this very talented team and serving alongside such an inspiring board is humbling and an incredible honor. My goal is to help continue driving this mission forward to allow us to grant as many wishes as possible for Michigan families just like the one I met so many years ago.”

Hull has served the last eight years as the Executive Director of the Great Lakes Region for ALSAC/St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, leading a team of 28 staff across three states with direct oversight of a $14M budget.

“During the search process that involved numerous well-qualified candidates, Mike stood out as a transformational and dynamic leader with a strong record of success in key roles with major nonprofit organizations,” said Rob Casalou, chair of the Make-A-Wish Michigan volunteer Board of Directors.

Before his current role, Hull worked for the American Cancer Society, Central Michigan University and YMCA. He also previously served as a wish-granting volunteer. Hull is a graduate of Central Michigan University. He has long served as a motivational speaker and trainer at many youth conferences and workshops focusing on diversity, differences and biases.

“The mission is life-changing for our wish families facing the hardest days of their lives and is so impactful to those who choose to be a part of our mission,” Hull said. “For me, this mission ignited a passion that changed my life aspirations and serving as the President & CEO of Make-A-Wish Michigan will be marked as my greatest accomplishment to date.”
